Vicksburg is trading in its quiet charm for a little Hollywood sparkle this week. Starting Wednesday, film crews will be all over town shooting Before Daylight, the newest project from Mississippi’s own 13 South Productions.
The company looked at spots all across the state before deciding Vicksburg had just the right look. Our mix of old architecture and unique backdrops makes it easy to film scenes that feel like different towns—all without leaving the city limits.
The story behind Before Daylight is about a small community wrestling with tough issues like a changing economy, substance abuse, and single-parent households. Even though it’s based on J.M. Barrie’s The Little Minister, the same man that wrote Peter Pan.
And this isn’t just about the art—it’s bringing a real boost to our local economy. That’s hotel rooms, Airbnbs, restaurants, and storefronts all getting a taste of the action.
Filming will be going on around town for the next six weeks. So if you spot a camera crew while you’re out and about, don’t be surprised—Vicksburg’s got a starring role.
They are still seeking local talent who wish to be extras in the production. If you’ve ever wanted to be on screen here is your chance. Simply fill out the online form.
