On November 23, the B.B. Club in Vicksburg will host its first-ever toy drive. Organized by local musician Jena M. Moulder, the event is a vibrant mix of live music, art and charity. Moulder, a member of the band Chief City, is spearheading this initiative to bring the community together while supporting two important causes.
A vision for unity and giving
โThis is our first year, and my first time hosting an event,โ Moulder shared. Inspired by previous successful shows at the BB Club, she saw potential to combine music, vendors and philanthropy. โWe wanted to find a way to get the whole community together and showcase local talent while supporting a cause.โ
The event will feature 11 bands performing various genres, including rock, blues, metal and doom. Vendors will display handmade crafts and art on the venueโs lower level, while music fills the ballroom above.
Supporting local charities
The toy drive benefits Haven House Family Shelter and Beautiful Deliverance, organizations dedicated to helping families in need. Attendees can contribute through a $10 cover fee, toy donations, or monetary gifts. โA hundred percent of the proceeds will go to these organizations,โ Moulder emphasized.
For those unable to attend, a donation box has been set up at Vapor World in Vicksburg. On event day, a special room at the B.B. Club will house a Christmas tree and the collected toy donations.
A growing community effort
The event has already garnered significant community support. โIโve talked to so many amazing strangers who just want to help,โ Moulder said. While this is a first for her, she is optimistic about the turnout.
Moulder envisions the toy drive becoming an annual tradition. โEven if itโs just this one time, helping anyone at all will make it worth it,โ she said. However, she hopes the event will grow each year.
