Vicksburg, MS: At just 29 years old, auto mechanic Taylor Williams Henley has been making waves in the Vicksburg community with his exceptional skills and dedication to his craft.
Henley’s passion for mechanics started at an early age, influenced by his father and grandfather. “I grew up hanging out with them in the shop,” Henley recalls fondly. His first hands-on experience came at the age of 10, and by 14, he was already working on his own truck.
A tragic accident nearly ended Henley’s future as a mechanic
In 2018, Henley was in a serious motorcycle wreck that nearly changed the course of his life. To his dismay, doctors told him that he would never walk again. Despite this devastating news, Henley refused to let go of his dreams. Through sheer determination and relentless effort, he not only regained the ability to walk but also continued to hone his skills as a mechanic.
Today, Henley is on the brink of a new chapter in his journey. He is opening his very own mechanic shop, turning his lifelong passion into a thriving business. His story is one of resilience and inspiration, demonstrating that with perseverance and hard work, even the most daunting obstacles can be overcome.
“My buddy Carlton Allison is my business partner on the new shop,” he said. “It’ll probably be closer to the middle of January until we’re officially open.” In the meantime, Henley is still working on vehicles for locals in Vicksburg.
“He is the best! Great guy!”
Henley’s reputation as a top-notch mechanic has grown rapidly. Recently, Henley was recommended online as a go-to mechanic, resulting in a flood of positive responses from satisfied customers. Many locals shared their experiences, praising his professionalism, skill, and fair pricing.
Dwayne Sumrall said, “He is the best! He got my truck right and a great price! He will be doing my work always! Great guy!”
Kacie Tingle Lindsey, Director of the City of Vicksburg Animal Shelter, added, “Heโs the only person that works on our vehicles and ATVs.”
“I ain’t never been real good at nothing else… but I can fix stuff.”
Henley remains humble and has a good sense of humor when responding to all of the positive feedback from the community. When asked how he became such an outstanding mechanic, Henley jokingly answered, “I ain’t never been real good at nothing else… but I can fix stuff.”
People used to bring Henley their cell phones or gaming consoles and he enjoyed pulling them apart to fix them. He also does all of his own electrical work. “My grandfather was like that. It pays the bills. That’s all that matters is that it takes care of family.” Plus, Henley genuinely enjoys helping people.
“I try to do honest work and keep my customers happy,” said Henley, and it would appear that he does exactly that.
