The staff at Heart of Vicksburg is passionate about showcasing the talents and creativity of Vicksburg locals. That’s why we’re calling on all creative-writers and poets in the city! Send us your short stories and poems for a chance to be featured on our website!
It’s no secret that Vicksburg is a melting pot of extraordinary and artistic individuals. Almost anywhere you go in Vicksburg, you’ll be surrounded by people with hidden interests and abilities. From stage performers to painters, musicians and more, Vicksburg’s got talent.
As well as those with musical and artistic inclinations, there are shockingly several among us who secretly have a knack for storytelling and poetry. Our wish is to bring attention to these gifted individuals and show off the penmanship of brilliantly-minded locals.

To submit your writings, you can email them to [email protected]
A short story should be around 1,000 words or less.
Anything submitted must include the name of the author as they would have it appear. Please include a good way to contact you.
Short stories and poems can be fictional, non-fictional, fun, serious or otherwise, however we ask that you keep content appropriate. Any use of foul language or adult content will not be published.
Writers may submit multiple entries if they desire.
