Vicksburg, MS: A man in Vicksburg with a big heart has undertaken the task of rescuing cats. Despite his best efforts, he couldn’t have predicted that 115 cats would end up in his care. He reached out to local animal rescuer, Alexa Jeffers for help saving them.
…But how did he end up with 115 cats?
People nearby took notice of his dedication to rescuing felines and began dumping them at his home. What started as an effort to make a difference in the lives of a few became a wild adventure of trying to care for far too many.
Not only is he overwhelmed, according to Jeffers, but now he’s desperate to find loving homes for these babies.
“A daunting request…”
He has been given until Monday, November 18 to find homes for these kitties or face eviction. If he can’t secure adopters by November 17, he’ll sadly be forced to take the cats to the shelter where they’ll inevitably face euthanization.
To help Jeffers as well as the man with a passion for animals, one can become a foster family to a cat or cats in lieu of fully adopting a new pet. A foster can temporarily take over the care of an animal until a permanent home is found.
“I know this is a daunting request,” said Jeffers, “but I’ve been contacted for help and I don’t have the resources to help alone.”
Jeffers has poured her heart and soul into animal rescue and she has positively impacted many lives along the way. She’s made the impossible possible. She has rescued hundreds of animals from situations that would otherwise be extremely difficult for most people to face. With support from the community, Jeffers can continue to make a difference.
In reference to the story of the boy and the starfish, “it may not make a difference to all of them, but it made a difference to that one!”
115 cats is a lot to imagine finding homes for. Maybe not every cat will be given a second chance, but any cat helped is one more life saved.
